Adultery - Paulo Coelho

1) 총평 (완독 소감 + 간단한 원서 리뷰 포함)

올해안에 다 읽을수 있을까 싶더니만.. 겨우 올해의 마지막날 다 읽었습니다.

지난번 Number the Stars 이후 찬란한링님의 "진심강추 - A long way gone"을 약 20% 정도 읽었는데..

제 느낌에는 현실과 답답함은 느껴지지만... 좀 지지부진하여 뒤로 미루고,

해리포터 4권을 읽으려고 영화를 보면서 '야... 재미있겠다...' 했는데..

책은 영화랑 시작에서부터 좀 다르더구만요..

1~3권까지는 영화와 책이 내용전개가 비슷하고 책에서는 좀더 상세한 정보가 있어 이해하기가 쉬웠는데..

아마도 4권부터가 목침시리즈라 그런지 이것도 잠시 미루기로 했습니다.

 

그러던 중... 휴가차 한국을 들어갔다가.. 시간때우기로 본사 인근의 대형서점엘 들렀는데..

요즘은 아동도서도 그렇고 일반 원서도 무척 많더군요..

눈에 익은 제목이 있어 반갑기도 하고.. 거기서 Paulo Coelho 책을 보았는데.. 그게 Adultery 였습니다.

집에 와서 인터넷을 찾으니 의외로 ebook 이 쉽게 찾아져서리.. 읽기 시작했습니다.

 

내용은 이렇습니다. 30대의 저널리스트, 부자이면서 자상한 남편과 예쁜 아이들.. 행복한 가정..

이중에 왠지 모를 30대의 고민.. 그러다 고등학교때 애인이자 지금은 유명정치인이 된 친구를 인터뷰하게 되면서,

일탈이 이루어지고..그러면서 느끼는 주인공 Linda 의 감정변화와 세상을 보는 눈..

그리고 결국.. Linda 가 찾게 되는 삶의 이유.

 

읽는 동안 속도도 느리고 많이 힘들었습니다.

제 생각에 첫번째 이유는 1인칭으로 쓰여있으면서 주인공의 말은 " " 가 없어요..

그러다 보니 생각을 하다가 말을 하다가.. 생각인지.. 말인지.. 상대방의 말은 " " 가 있으니 구분이 되는데.. 꿀..

몇몇 못보던.. 고급이라해야할지 어렵다고 해야할지.. 단어가 나오지만..

그동안 짧은 책을 읽을때는 모르던.. 그러다가 좀 긴책을 읽으면서 "무협지 읽듯..." 읽어나가던 방식이

이 책에는 안통하겠구나... 꿀... 하면서.. 조금 힘들게 읽었습니다.

중간중간.. Paulo Coelho가 이걸 왜.. 얘기로 써야하고.. 소재로 잡았는지.. 하는 생각도 들고.. 다 읽은 후에도

그 의문은 조금은 남지만...

 

그래도.. 역시나 큰 주제는 "사랑"이구만요..

 

우쨋거나.. 이 책이 저에게는 2014년을 마감하는 마지막책인데요..

당초 200권 목표는 100권을 넘었기 때문에 설정한거라.. 큰 아쉬움은 없고..

짧든 길든.. 저 스스로가 올해

174권에 2,387,871 단어를 읽었다는 것이 자못 신기합니다.

(혼자 생각에는 재독까지 하면 얼추 200권 되었다.. 하는 생각도 들구요.. ㅋㅋㅋ)

 

이제 내일이면 2015년이네요..

Englishow와의 좋은 인연.. 내년에도 계속되었으면 합니다.
