1) 총평 (완독 소감 + 간단한 원서 리뷰 포함)

 * Japanese Folklore : The Legend of Eternal Life

    feedbooks.com 사이트에서 무료 읽기 가능하길래 한 번 다운받아 보았습니다.  

    내용은 '나무꾼이 산 속에서 길을 잃고 신선을 만나 바둑 한판 두고 마을로 돌아오니 100년이 지났더라'는 식의 우리 전래동화와 비슷한 점이 많았어요. 교훈적인 부분도 있고요. 

  그나저나 쉬운 문장의 동화라고 생각했는데, 생각보다 모르는 단어가 많아서 도저히 사전을 찾아보지 않고는 책을 술술 읽을 수 없었어요.  ㅡㅜ  

* Alvin Ho : Allergic to Girls, School, and Other Scary Things

 무려 190쪽에 달하는 챕터 북입니다. 다 읽으니 뿌듯하네요. 그레이드 북은 얇으니까 읽고 나서 이렇게 까지 뿌듯하지는 않았거든요. 

주인공이 9살 정도 된거 같아요.  집에서는 말도 잘하고 책도 많이 읽는 아이인데, 학교에서는 말도 한마디 못하고 겁이 많은 주인공이 겪는 여러가지 생활 속 에피소드들을 정말 귀엽게 잘 표현 한 책입니다. 

 그리고 유튜브에 Alvin Ho 라고 검색하면 미국아주머니들?이 책을 한 챕터씩 직접 읽어주는 영상이 있어요.  책을 다 읽고 난 뒤에 이 영상을 보게 되었는데 원어민 영어가 그냥 귀에 쏙쏙 들리는 마법~을 경험하게 되네요. 어메이징~! 한 챕터에 5~10분 내외의 영상이니까 저도 그 정도 속도로 읽을 수 있어야겠군요. 앞으로는 영어 읽는 속도에 대한 목표도 잡아봐야겠어요.

  혼자 비행기를 타고 뉴욕의 이모를 찾아 온 영국 고딩 Nicky.  마중나온 사람과 엊갈리고 가방 잊어버리고 멘붕에 빠지게 된 이야기네요.     

  이 책의 교훈 :  낯선 곳을 여행할 땐 최소한 묵을 곳 주소 정도는 외우고 다녀야 겠다. 아니면 손바닥에 볼펜으로 좀 적어놓던지...  가방이나 핸폰을 잃어버리면 정말 당황하겠네요.  

   그나저나 다른 분들도 느끼셨는지?  펭귄리더스는 제한된 단어와 페이지 안에서 책이 만들어져서 그런가 내용이 자연스럽지 않고 끊어지는 느낌이 있네요.
