곧 영화도 개봉한다고 해서 그냥 가볍게 읽으려고 펼쳤는데
첫 챕터를 읽고 나니 손에서 놓을 수가 없어서
이틀만에 완독을 하였습니다
단어나 문장이 어려운 수준이 아니라 쉽게 쉽게 읽히는 소설이었기도 했거니와
책 내용상 음울하게 그려지지는 않았지만 어려운 환경에서 "아이"답게
생각하고 행동하는 Georgina 에 나도 모르게 반했기 때문입니다
주인공이자 화자 Georgina
엄마 Mama와 동생 Toby
그리고 Willy, Carmella, Mookie
등장인물이 단출해서 복잡하지 않은 구성이고 전체 분량도 길지 않아서
쉽게 읽을 수 있으리라 생각합니다
영화에 캐스팅된 연기자들의 배역도 충분히 예상 가능하구요
읽어 볼 시간이 없는 분들께서는
책속에 나오는 문장들 한번쯤 읽어 보시면 좋을 듯 합니다
Step 1 ; Fina a Dog
These are the rules for finding a dog:
1. The dog must not bark too much.
2. The dog must not bite.
3. The dog must be outside by itself sometimes.
4. The dog must be loved a lot and not just some old dog that nobody cares about.
5. The owner of the dog must look like somebody who will pay a lot of money to get their dog back, like maybe someone
who has a big house and rides in a limo or something like that.
Step 2: When you find the dog you want to steal, keep an eye on it for a while.
Here are the rules to remember:
1. Make sure the dog really doesn’t bark or bite.
2. If there is a fence, see if the gate is locked.
3. Decide whether or not you can pick the dog up or maybe you have to have a leash or a rope.
4. Check to see if there are any nosy people living next door or across the street or something.
Step 3: Get ready to steal the dog.
1. Keep watching the dog to make sure he is the right one to steal.
2. If you need a leash, find some rope or something.
3. Figure out where you are going to hide the dog.
Step 4: Use this list to make sure you are ready to steal a dog.
1. Are you sure you have found the right dog? Yes ___ No ___
2. Can you open the gate? Yes ___ No ___
3. Do you have some rope or string? Yes ___ No ___
4. Do you have a good place to keep the dog? Yes ___ No ___
Step 5: Things to do after you have stolen the dog:
1. Be sure to act nice to him so he won’t be afraid.
2. Play with him some so he will like you.
3. Make sure you put him in a safe place where he won’t get wet if it rains.
4. Tie up the rope or string so he can’t run away.
5. Find him some food and water
Step 6: When you find some signs about the lost dog, take him back to his owner, get the money, and you are done.
BUT I drew a big circle around the word BUT.. Then I wrote: If there are no signs, you will have to find the owner of
the dog and help them make some signs. While you are doing that, you will have to practice looking nice and not like
a dog thief. Remember to take real good care of the dog so he won’t be hungry or sad or anything.
THEN
I cicled the word THEN and under that I wrote
You will have to wait and see what happens next.
Step 7: Remember
Sometimes, the more you stir it, thr worse it stinks.
Step 8: If you want to, you can take the dog back and tell the owner that you don’t want the reward money after all.
Here is what will happen if you decide to do that:
1. The owner will be really happy and she can give the money back to her uncle Haywood.
2. The dog will be happy because he is back home where he belongs instead of on that nasty porch. 3. You will be happy
because you won’t feel bad about stealing a dog, even though you still live in a car.
4. When you stop stirring, it will stop stinking.
Or
You can take the dog back and get reward monet like you planned.
THAT
is the decision you will have to make.
Step 9:Those are all the rules for how to steal a dog.
But
DO NOT STEAL A DOG
because
it is NOT a good idea

아이의 생각이 옿고 그름을 판다나하기를 떠나서
어려운 생활속에서도 웃음을 잃지 않고 가족을 위해(?) 무엇을 할수 있는지 생각하기도 하고
가족을 위해 세탁소에가서 세탁도 하고
개를 위해 먹을 것을 따로 떼어 놓는 아이
한해가 지나가는 연말이 되니
불현듯 어려운 환경에서 살아가는 아이들이 우리 주변에도 많다는 생각이 듭니다
비록 어려운 환경이지만 용기를 잃지 않고 힘차게 살아 갔으면 좋겠습니다
국가에서 조금만 더 조금만 더 어려운 사람들을 위해 힘써 줬으면 좋겠구요
