예전에 Winn-Dixie 이후 Ulysses & Flora 를 읽은 이후로.. Kate DiCamillo가 누군지도 모르다가..
(지금은 알죠.. 50살의 혼자사는, TV 드라마 Burn Notice의 Michael Western의 엄마처럼 생긴 아줌마)
최근 제가 가지고 있는 Kate DiCamillo의 글은 모두 읽었습니다.
the Magician's Elephant, the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, the Tale of Despereaux, 그리고 마지막이
방금 읽은 the Tiger Rising 이네요...
이번것은 좀 어렵게 읽었습니다. 왠지 어렵게 느껴지더구만요..
주인공인 Rob의 설정과 각각의 등장인물
Rob의 아버지, Sistine이라는 전학온 여자아이, Rob 이 세들어 사는 Motel에서 일하는 Willie May 아줌마,
Motel 주인이며 별다른 역할없이 책제목에 가장 비중있게 등장하는 Tiger의 소유자인 Beauchamp...
각각의 내면의 고통이 (Beauchamp를 제외하고요) 있고, 결과적으로는 Rob과 그의 아버지가 죽은 엄마에 대한
말못하고 억지로 누르고 있는 한없는 그리움을 표현하게 되면서 마무리가 되는데요..
여기에 중요한 역할을 하는게 Sistine 이구요..
어찌보면 Missing May와도 약간은 유사한 감도 받긴 했지만.. 또 조금 다른..
이전의 Kate DiCamillo의 글과는 좀 다른 느낌을 받았습니다.
전반적으로 역시나 detail은 이해를 하지 못한채 흐름으로만 받아들였다는 생각이 유독 많이 들었습니다. 꿀..
어쨋거나.. 담에 뭐 읽을까 고민이 되는구만요...
엊그제 잉하님이 올려주신 제1회 Newberry 수상작도 땡기고..
그동안 너무나도 멀게만 느껴졌던.. 해리포터를 1권만이라도 읽어볼까 하는 광오한 욕심까지.. ㅎㅎㅎ
근데.. 단어장 다시 공부한다던 생각은 쏙.. 들어가 버렸어요.. 그것도 하긴 해야하는데..
모르는 단어가 꽤 많던데.. 꿀..
우쨋거나.. Keep going 해 볼랍니다.
