When a girl was born, her family hung wool over the door.
When a boy was born, the family hung an olive wreath over the door.
In the earliest Olympics, athletes wore tunics. Later, they competed without clothes.
The early Olympics were very simple. There was only one event. Runners ran a footrace called the stade.
The most difficult race was one in full armor. Runners wore bronze helmets and carried heavy wooden or bronze shields.
