01. 짧은 감상 평

rattlesnake가 보이니 반갑네요. holes 읽다가 본 것 같은데...반가워서 2번 항목에 넣었어요^-^
이번에도 새로운 수수께끼를 풀러 여행을 떠나는 두 아이입니다. 이번엔 아무도 살지 않는 유령 마을로 가네요.
방울뱀을 보고 혼비백산하여 도망간 아이들은 한 가게를 발견하게 되고, 그 곳에서 카우보이 모자와 부츠를 착용해봅니다.
Annie는 준법정신이나 도덕심이 희박한 것이 분명하네요. 말보다도 생각보다도 행동이 먼저 나가는 타입. 완전 별로예요.
혼자서 연주하는 피아노를 보고 달아나는 두 아이 앞에 먼지구름이 보이네요. 사람과 말로 이루어진 무리가 달려오고 있어 둘은 근처의 통 속으로 숨습니다. 하지만 말들이 일으킨 먼지구름에 Jack이 재채기를 할 것 같아 코를 움켜쥐네요.
하지만 결국 참지 못하고 재채기를 하게 되는데, 남자들이 이상함을 느끼고 찾아보려는 순간, 노을처럼 붉은 야생마(mustangs)가 뒤에서 나타납니다. 적토마의 후예일까 했더니 스페인 말의 자손이라는군요.
남자들의 대화를 듣고 두 아이는 화가 납니다. 야생마를 잡기 위해(?) 말도 사람들도 사라지고 난 후 아이들은 어미 야생마의 망아지가 묶여있는 것을 발견하고 다가갑니다. 아이고오, 역시나 행동파 최고봉인 Annie. Jack이 책에서 야생마 길들이는 법을 읽는 동안 본능적으로 길들여 버리는군요. 이름까지 븉여줍니다. "Sunset."
그리고 막 계획을 세우려던 찰나, 한 카우보이에 의해 잡히게 됩니다.
원래는 1일에 챕터 5파트씩 읽는데 이번에는 모르는 게 너무 많이 나와서 챕터 4까지 읽고 끊었습니다.
내일 6챕터 읽으려고요.ㅠㅠ
왠지 매트하가 뒷권으로 갈수록 문장도 점점 더 길어지고 모르는 단어들이 마구 튀어나오는 기분이 듭니다...ㅠㅠ
