물탱크 트럭을 갖고 그를 찾아 떠나려다가 물한방울 없이 똑같이 배회하게 된 스탠리..

Stanley lay on his scratchy sheets. 

It occurred to him that his cot no longer smelled bad. 

He wondered if the smell had gone away, or if he had just gotten used to it. 

(스탠리가 이런 식으로 생각하는 부분이 종종 나오는 듯. 그의 적응, 성장을 살짝 보여주는 거 같기도 해요) 

What worried him the most, however, wasn't that it was too late. 

What worried him the most, what really ate at his insides, was the fear that it wasn't too late. 

What if Zero was still alive, desperately crawling across the dirt searching for water? 

He tried to force the image out of his mind. 

(제로가 걱정되는 스탠리.. 정말 최악은 아직 늦지 않았는데.. 늦었다고 생각하고 지금 이렇게 손놓고 있는거) 

He slowly backed away from the line, then circled over to the side of the truck. 

But out here there was no system. 

It was as if every once in a while, in a fit of frustration, the Warden would just pick a spot at random. 

He doubted it was anything, 

but the fact that there was something in the middle of all this nothing made it hard for him to pass up. 

(의구심이 있으면 떨쳐 버리지 못하는, 은근 근성이 있는ㅋㅋ 스탠리의 성격이 드러나네요)

Zero's face looked like a jack-o'-lantern 

that had been left out too many days past Halloween- half rotten, with sunken eyes and a dropping smile. 

(결국 만나게 된 제로! 그의 몰골 ㅎㅎ)

It felt like heaven as it flowed over his dry mouth and down his parched throat. 

He thought it might have been some kind of fruit at sometime, perhaps peaches.
