그런 어느 날 난 외할머니에게 이렇게 말했다.
“할머니, 제 말 좀 들어보세요. 할머니가 그런 통계에 관심이 많으시다면 세상 사람들의 97퍼센트가 침대에 누워 서 죽는다는 것도 아실거예요. 그런데 전 많은 밤을 침대 밖에서 자고 있잖아요? 이게 위험하다구요? 통계로 본다면 사실 침대에 누워 있는 것보다 더 위험한 일은 없을거예요. 사람들의 97퍼센트가 침대에서 죽으니까 말예요. 그러니까 기차를 타고 있는게 더 안전하죠. 기차를 타고 있다가 죽는 사람은 드물잖아요.

Then one day, I said to my gradmother:
"Grandma, listen. If you're so interested in that kind of statistics, you're aware that 97 percent of people in the world are dying on their beds. But I'm spending many nights outside of my bed. You think this is dangerous? The truth is, based on the stats, nothing in the world is more dangerous than sleeping on the bed, as 97% of people is dying on the bed. That means riding on a train is much safer. It is rare to die on the train.
"Granma, please calm down and listen to me. If you are interested in such statistics, I am sure you know that ninety-seven percent of people in this world finish their life while sleeping on their bed. But I am spending many nights out of the house, am I not? Do you think it is dangerous? Given statistics[Judging from the statistics], actually nothing is as dangerous as lying on the bed, because ninety-seven percent of people in this world die. I mean, people travelling by train is safer because few boarding the train unluckily die.
