1) 총평 (완독 소감 + 간단한 원서 리뷰 포함)
5월에는 어머니의 날, 6월에는 아버지의 날이 있네요. 아버지, 조쉬, 쌍둥이는 아침 식사를 하고 들어오다가 아버지가 할머니의 딸기잼을 그리워하는 것을 듣게 되고, 브래들리는 아버지의 날 선물로 할머니의 레시피로 딸기잼을 만들자고 합니다. 집안일 돕기로 쌍둥이와 친구들은 정원의 잡초를 뽑는데, 딸기를 누군가 베어문 흔적을 발견합니다. 그래서 허수아비도 만들고, 함정도 만들고, 위장하고 숨어서 지켜보다가 결국 누가 한 것을 알게 됩니다. 그리고 어머니의 준비로 무사히 딸기잼을 만들게 되고...
우리는 흔히 선물이라고 하면 뭔가 물질적이고 비싼, 돈으로 구입한 것들을 생각하는데, 우리는 그 사람이 원하는 관심을 잘 몰라서 심지어 현금을 주는데 이 책의 주인공들은 그러지 않네요. 각자의 형편에 맞춰 그 사람이 바라는 것을 해 줍니다. 어머니의 날 선물도 그렇고 아버지의 날 선물도 그러하네요. 또 그걸 받는 사람도 무척 기뻐합니다. 선물의 진정한 의미가 뭔지 생각하게 합니다.
