IN 1829, A SCOTTISH JOURNALIST POPULARIZED THE SAYING “THE SUN NEVER SETS ON THE BRITISH EMPIRE,” MEANING THAT THE EMPIRE WAS SO VAST THAT IT WAS ALWAYS DAYLIGHT ON BRITISH PEOPLE SOMEWHERE.

그리고 웨딩드레스의 순백드레스도 빅토리아로 인해 아직까지 전해오는 트렌드구요.
THE QUEEN’S WEDDING DRESS QUEEN VICTORIA WAS NOT THE FIRST BRIDE TO WEAR A WHITE DRESS AT HER WEDDING, AND SHE WASN’T EVEN THE FIRST MEMBER OF THE ROYAL FAMILY TO DO SO. BUT SHE CERTAINLY DID POPULARIZE THE WHITE WEDDING DRESS. MOST BRIDES AT THE TIME WORE COLORED WEDDING DRESSES. WHITE FABRIC WAS TOO EXPENSIVE TO MAKE AND MAINTAIN. IT WAS A SYMBOL OF WEALTH AND STATUS TO OWN A DRESS THAT WAS DIFFICULT TO CLEAN AND THAT MIGHT ONLY BE WORN ONCE IN A LIFETIME. QUEEN VICTORIA CHOSE WHITE BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO INCORPORATE A PIECE OF LACE THAT WAS VERY SPECIAL TO HER INTO THE DRESS. THE WEDDING OF VICTORIA AND ALBERT IN 1840 GOT SO MUCH ATTENTION THAT MANY OTHER BRIDES SOON FOLLOWED THE QUEEN’S EXAMPLE OF WEARING A WHITE DRESS ON THEIR WEDDING DAY. BY THE 1860S, WHITE BECAME THE FAVORED COLOR FOR WEDDING DRESSES, AND IT HAS BEEN EVER SINCE.

그리고 대영제국이 통치한 나라들...
